ZYZA Terms of Service
Effective October 22, 2026
ZYZA is an AI study abroad advisor provided by Across The Horizon, LLC ("Across The Horizon", "we", "us").
These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of ZYZA, including the website and app at zyza.app (and zyza.netlify.app) and any successor address. By creating an account or using ZYZA, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Notice below. If you don't agree, don't use ZYZA.
1. What ZYZA does
ZYZA helps you plan to study abroad. Through voice or text conversations, it can:
- build a study abroad assessment and plan, including suggested schools, programs, scholarships, risks and next steps;
- read documents you upload, such as your CV, transcript and English test results;
- help you write statements of purpose, essays, application answers and emails in your own words;
- guide you step by step through applications that you complete and submit yourself;
- run practice visa interviews and give you feedback;
- explain visa routes and documents, and look up current information on the web;
- point you to approved partners for paying tuition, fees and related costs, where available; and
- connect you with paid expert help from the study abroad team and with customer support.
2. ZYZA uses artificial intelligence
ZYZA is an AI system, not a person. Its answers are generated automatically and can be incomplete, out of date or wrong.
- ZYZA is guidance, not a guarantee. It does not guarantee admission, scholarships, funding, visa approval, or any outcome.
- ZYZA is not a licensed immigration adviser, lawyer, or financial adviser, and does not give legal, immigration, tax or financial advice. For decisions with legal or financial consequences, check with the school, the relevant government authority, or a qualified professional.
- Always confirm deadlines, fees, entry requirements, scholarship terms and visa rules on the official source before you rely on them. ZYZA shows links to sources where it can.
- Practice visa interviews are a simulation. They are not conducted by, or affiliated with, any embassy, consulate or government.
3. Your responsibilities
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Give accurate information and upload only documents that belong to you or that you have the right to share.
- You are responsible for everything you submit to a school, scholarship body, employer or government. You always review and submit applications yourself; ZYZA never submits anything on your behalf.
- Writing help is meant to express your own experiences and ideas. Make sure anything you submit is truthful and follows the rules of the school or scholarship, including any rules on AI-assisted writing.
- Do not share passwords, card numbers, bank details or government ID numbers with ZYZA. ZYZA will never ask for them.
- Do not misuse ZYZA, including by trying to break or overload it, extract its prompts or other users' data, or use it for anything unlawful.
4. Voice conversations
When you talk to ZYZA, your voice is processed in real time to understand you and to reply. By using voice, you agree that your conversation audio and transcripts may be processed and stored as described in the Privacy Notice below. You can mute the microphone at any time, or type instead.
5. Talk time, top-ups and the Season Pass
- Free intro. Each person gets one set of free intro minutes (currently 30) when they first verify their email. Free minutes are limited to one per person; creating new email addresses to get more is not allowed, and we may remove minutes obtained that way.
- What uses talk time. Voice conversations with ZYZA and practice visa interviews use talk time by the second while the session is connected, except while hold music plays during an assessment. Building an assessment and writing or revising a draft each use a set number of minutes, shown in the app before you buy. Typing with ZYZA is free. We may change what uses talk time, and how much, with notice in the app.
- Top-ups. You can buy minutes as you go. Purchased minutes are added to your account after payment is confirmed. They don't expire while your account is active, but we may expire unused minutes after 12 months with no activity on your account.
- Season Pass. The Season Pass is a one-off payment, not a subscription, and does not renew automatically. It gives you the number of voice minutes shown at purchase, to use within the period shown (currently 600 minutes over 6 months), starting on the day you buy it. Pass minutes are used before your other minutes. Unused pass minutes expire at the end of the period. Buying another pass while one is active extends the period and adds its minutes.
- All purchases are final and non-refundable. Fees for top-ups, Season Passes and paid expert help are non-refundable, including for unused minutes, unused pass time, or if you stop using ZYZA, delete your account, or are unhappy with an outcome, except where the law requires a refund. If a technical fault on our side means you were charged minutes for something that didn't work, contact support and we will restore those minutes.
- No cash value. Minutes and passes have no cash value, can't be transferred, sold or exchanged for money, and can only be used in ZYZA by the account that bought them.
- Prices and payment. Prices are shown in the app before you pay and may change for future purchases. Across The Horizon, LLC is the seller. Payments are processed securely by our payments partner through Stripe, and the charge on your statement includes "ZYZA". You are responsible for any bank, card or currency conversion fees. If a payment is reversed or charged back, we may remove the minutes it bought.
- Account deletion. Deleting your account permanently removes any remaining minutes and Season Pass, without refund.
- Changes and fair use. We may limit or suspend talk time that is used in a way that abuses the service, such as automated or shared use. If we discontinue ZYZA, we will give you reasonable notice before minutes stop working.
6. Paid expert help
- You can book a paid one-on-one consultation with the study abroad team. The price is shown before you pay.
- Payment is processed by our payment processor, and the booking calendar is provided by our scheduling provider. Their terms apply to your use of their services.
- Consultation fees are non-refundable once paid, except where required by law or if we cancel and cannot reschedule your session.
- Consultations provide guidance only and are subject to the same limits as Section 2.
7. Partners and third-party services
ZYZA may point you to approved partners for tuition, fees, the SEVIS fee, proof of funds, loans or installments, depending on your country. Suggestions are not a promise of approval, rates or availability. Any service you use is governed by that provider's own terms. Schools, scholarship bodies, partners and governments are independent of Across The Horizon, and we are not responsible for their decisions or services.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of the information, documents and writing you provide. You give Across The Horizon permission to use it to operate ZYZA for you, including sending it to the service providers listed in the Privacy Notice. Drafts ZYZA produces for you are yours to use. We may use de-identified, aggregated information to improve ZYZA.
9. Your account
You sign in with your name and email address, confirmed with a one-time code we email you. You also set a 4-digit PIN that opens ZYZA on your device. Keep access to your email secure, and don't share your codes or PIN. You can start over or delete your account at any time from Your profile in the app. Deleting your account erases the profile, documents, plan and conversations saved in ZYZA, as described in the Privacy Notice.
10. Availability and changes
ZYZA is provided "as is" and "as available". Features may change, be paused or be discontinued. We may update these Terms; we will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, tell you in the app or by email.
11. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, ZYZA is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't warrant that ZYZA will be uninterrupted, error-free or that its information is complete or current.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Across The Horizon and its members, managers, employees and service providers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of admission, enrollment, scholarship, funding, visa status, opportunity, data or profits, arising from your use of ZYZA. Our total liability for any claim relating to ZYZA is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for ZYZA in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory law.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Across The Horizon against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of ZYZA, your breach of these Terms, or anything you submit to a school, scholarship body, employer or government.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Across The Horizon, LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at hello@zyza.app and try to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. If you live in a country whose law gives you the right to bring claims in your local courts, nothing here removes that right.
15. Ending your use
You can stop using ZYZA and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or misuse ZYZA. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as disclaimers, limitation of liability and indemnity, continue to apply.
16. Contact
Use Get help in the app to open a support ticket, or email hello@zyza.app.
ZYZA Privacy Notice
Effective October 22, 2026
This notice explains how Across The Horizon, LLC ("Across The Horizon", "we", "us") handles personal information when you use ZYZA. Across The Horizon is the controller of the information described here.
1. Information ZYZA collects
- Account details: your first name and email address, the date you accepted these terms, sign-in records, and your app PIN. One-time codes and your PIN are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form; codes expire after 10 minutes, and five wrong PIN tries sign you out.
- Security and receipt emails: when your account is signed in to, your PIN changes, there are too many wrong PIN tries, your account is deleted, or you buy talk time, we email you. Security emails include the time, device type, approximate location (city and country) and IP address of the request, so you can spot sign-ins that weren't you. We use this only to protect your account and don't store it in your profile.
- Talk time: your minute balance, Season Pass, purchases, and how many minutes each voice session, assessment or draft used. To stop free minutes being claimed twice, we keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) record that an email address has used its free intro, even after the account is deleted. It can't be turned back into your email.
- Profile and study plans: what you tell ZYZA, such as your home country, city, education and grades, field and level of study, destination countries, how you plan to pay, English tests, work and travel history, past visa applications or refusals, career goals, timeline and passport validity.
- Documents you upload: such as your CV, transcripts, English test results and screenshots of application questions. ZYZA reads the text in them to tailor its advice.
- Voice and conversations: the audio of voice conversations while the microphone is on, the transcripts of what you and ZYZA say, and typed messages. ZYZA may also note delivery cues such as pace and pauses to adjust how it responds.
- Generated content: your assessment, plan, writing drafts, application progress, practice interview transcripts and feedback.
- Profile photo: if you choose to add one.
- Support, bookings and purchases: support tickets you send, confirmation that you booked paid expert help, and records of talk time purchases (what you bought, when, and the Stripe payment reference). Payment card details are entered directly with Stripe; ZYZA does not see or store them.
- Device and usage information: basic technical information such as browser type, and preferences saved on your device, like your theme and input mode.
Some of this, such as your nationality, grades and visa history, can be sensitive. Share only what you are comfortable with; ZYZA still works with less information, but its advice will be less precise.
2. How we use it
- to provide ZYZA's features: conversations, assessments, school and scholarship matches, writing help, application guidance, practice interviews and route guides;
- to remember you and pick up where you left off on any device, and to verify your email when you sign in;
- to track and charge talk time, process top-ups and Season Passes, and prevent misuse of free minutes;
- to email your assessment report when you ask for it;
- to suggest relevant partners for your country, where available;
- to arrange paid expert help and respond to support tickets;
- to keep ZYZA secure, prevent misuse, and fix problems; and
- to improve ZYZA using de-identified or aggregated information.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. AI and automated processing
ZYZA uses AI models to understand your messages and documents and to generate responses, assessments and drafts. Its assessments are recommendations to help you decide; they do not make legal or similarly significant decisions about you, and no school, government or lender receives them unless you share them. You can ask for a person to review your plan through paid expert help or support.
4. Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to run ZYZA, with service providers acting on our instructions:
| Provider | What they do | What they receive |
| ElevenLabs | Voice and text conversations: speech recognition, the conversational agent and the spoken voice. We also read each session's length from ElevenLabs to charge talk time accurately. | Conversation audio, transcripts, and the profile and plan context ZYZA needs to talk with you |
| Anthropic | AI models that build assessments, read documents, write drafts and give interview feedback | Your profile, document text, conversation excerpts and requests |
| Netlify | Hosting the app and storing your account data, background tasks and support tickets | All information saved in ZYZA |
| Resend | Sending emails such as sign-in codes, security alerts, purchase receipts, your assessment report and support notifications | Your email address and the email content |
| Stripe | Processing payments for talk time, Season Passes and paid expert help | Your email address, what you're buying, and what you enter at checkout |
| Calendly | Booking your consultation time | What you enter when booking |
| Web search | Looking up current information on schools, scholarships and visas | Search queries, without your name or email |
We also share information with the ZYZA study abroad team when you book expert help or open a ticket, with partners only when you choose to use their service, and where required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. Providers may change over time; you can ask which providers currently process your information.
5. Where it is processed
ZYZA's providers process information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws from yours. Where the law requires, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.
6. How long we keep it
- Your ZYZA account data is kept while your account exists, until you delete it. To keep only what's needed, ZYZA keeps your most recent conversation turns and a short running summary of older ones.
- Background task results, such as a generated plan, are kept only as long as needed to deliver them to you and for troubleshooting.
- Voice recordings and transcripts held by our voice provider, and requests processed by our AI provider, are kept for limited periods under our settings and agreements with them, then deleted.
- Support tickets, booking records and purchase records are kept as long as needed to help you and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. Stripe keeps its own payment records under its policies.
- Your minute balance is deleted with your account. The hashed record that an email used its free intro is kept to prevent repeat claims.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and correct: open Your profile to see and edit what ZYZA knows about you, and your documents.
- Start over: clear your course, country, school or everything from Your profile.
- Delete your account: Your profile, then Delete my account. This permanently erases your saved ZYZA profile, documents, assessment, drafts, practice interviews and conversations from our app storage and from your device, along with your talk time balance, your PIN, your sign-ins on every device, your support messages, saved results of background tasks, and the voice recordings and transcripts of your conversations held by our voice provider. We keep only what we must: the one-way hashed record that your email used its free intro minutes, and purchase records our payment provider keeps by law. Emails already sent to you or to our support inbox, and requests processed by our AI provider, are deleted on their own retention schedules.
- Microphone: you can mute it, type instead, or withdraw microphone permission in your browser settings at any time.
- Other rights: depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to complain to a regulator, under the laws that apply to you. Email hello@zyza.app with the subject "Privacy Request".
8. Storage on your device
ZYZA saves your progress, preferences and your sign-in session in your browser's local storage so it works quickly and keeps you signed in on that device. Signing out or deleting your account clears it. ZYZA does not use advertising cookies.
9. Security
Information is encrypted in transit and stored with our hosting provider, with access limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't share passwords, card numbers or government ID numbers in ZYZA.
10. Age
ZYZA is intended for people aged 18 and over. If you believe someone under 18 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this notice and will post changes here with a new effective date. Questions: hello@zyza.app, or write to Across The Horizon, LLC, Attn: Privacy.
